The Well
A Grand Prince from a middle eastern principality, visiting the US for the first time, was being wined and dined by the State Department. The Grand Prince was unused to the salt in American foods, and was constantly sending his man-servant Abdul to fetch him a glass of water. Time and again, Abdul would scamper off and return with a glass full of water. But then, after many trips, Adbul returned empty-handed. This displeased the Grand Prince greatly. "Abdul, you son of an ugly camel", he yelled, "Where is my water?!" "A thousand pardons, O Illustrious One," stammered the wretched Abdul, "But someone is sitting on the well." |
