I surprised Mari with a spur-of-the-moment (sort of - I had planned it from the beginning of the week) overnighter to Chincoteague and Assateague Islands on weekend when the kids were away. We took a leisurely drive out to the Eastern Shores and I was hoping to get ahead of a storm that was expected later. Alas, it arrived while we were exploring Assateague Island, though it did rain heavily, it was very blustery.
