On Monday, May 29, 2006 - Memorial Day - Mari, Marsha (our neighbor), and I went into Crystal City, rode our bicycles up the Mount Vernon Trail to Arlington National Cemetery. I am happy to say that there were very many people there! It felt good to see so many people there paying respect and honors to the men and women who sacrificed their lives in order to preserve our American Heritage and Way of Life.
We wandered around the grounds of the cemetery, taking notice of the names and dates of those interned - many of them from the late 1800's and early 1900's, and made our way to the Tomb of the Unknowns and we were able to observe the changing of the guard - a very somber and moving ceremony.
